Program Interface - Name of the application

 
You find the title and the name of the application respectively above the menu bar.
 

The currently selected language is represented by a country flag.
 
   

Program Interface - Menu Bar

 
The menu bar is located right above the map window. Using easily accessible categories, it introduces all of CityGuide DMS's available functions. 
 

Please left-click on a menu entry in the graphic that you would like to know more about:
 

Program Interface - Quickbar

 
You can easily and quickly access many program functions by using the quickbar. The menu entry "View" offers the functionality to fade in or fade out the quickbar.
 

 
All functions of the quickbar elements can be alternatively controlled with the appropiate menu instructions of the application.
 

Please note that the kind and the amount of the provided quick-functions depend on the publisher of the particular version.

Program Interface - Map Window

 
The map window of CityGuide DMS has the following functions:
 

Display of the source map's section which contains your present location (center of the window)     Display of coordinates, map borders, drawings, routes, symbols and selected objects     Navigation on the map by means of mouse and keyboard

 
The visible part of this source map's section is only a small part of the entire source map. You may "virtually" move across the map yourself or have the program "guide" you to certain objects.

 
Your current position within the source map is shown as a black rectangle in the overview-window for better orientation.
 

Depending on your internet connection speed and the server availability it is possible that with online applications a certain amount of time passes until the requested map material is (re-)loaded.

Program Interface - Overview Window

 
The overview window of CityGuide DMS has the following functions:
 

Display of the current source map with it's entire area. The section of the map window is indicated as a black rectangle.     Display of map borders and chosen objects.     Navigation on the map by means of mouse and keyboard. Left-click with your mouse on the desired map location. The system will now move or jump to the indicated position on the source map.

Program Interface - Objects & Symbols

 
Below the overview window you find the information area.
 

 
With this you have access to the object- and symbol information of the application. When locating searched objects you are supported by a full-text search function. Furthermore you are able to determine, if you want to "jump" to the target point or if you prefer to move there "on the fly".

 
Alternatively you can manage the selection of index cards by pressing the function key [F2] (objects) and the function key [F6] (symbols).

Program Interface - Object Search

 
In the index card "Objects" you have the possibility to search for certain search terms by using a text field.
 

 
Enter a search term into the text field. Note that a search term must contain at least three characters. Afterwards press the [Enter]-key.

 
A dialogue window will open and present you a list of found objects that respond to your search term.
 

Alternatively you may access the search dialogue through the menu item "Objects-Search" or by pressing the [F2]-key.

Program Interface - Object Selection

 
By using the object selection you have access to objects within the CityGuide DMS application.
 

Object selection is used in the same way as you would browse a directory structure on your hard drive. Descending from the root folder you may enter any subfolder of your choice and access the objects located therein.   The group folder symbols have the following meaning:   You are currently browsing the index. Move up to a higher directory level. Move to a lower directory level (enter a subfolder).   By double clicking the icon or by pressing the [Return]-key you will switch to the respective group. By pressing [Backspace] you will switch back to the higher directory level.   Futhermore you are able to determine whether the symbols of a certain group should be displayed or not depending on the symbol mode.

After selecting a group the related sub-groups and objects are listed. Note, that the first entry (switch to the higher directory level) will always be displayed.   The object icons have the following semantics:   Normal Object. Object with additional information. Object with email address.   The following commands are possible:   A single click on an object will show its location on the map- as well as on the overview-window.    Performing a double click or hitting [Enter] on an object-entry will automatically guide you to its position. In your settings you can decide whether you want to move across the map or "jump" to this location.   Whenever more information or email contacts are available for a certain object, you will also receive a notification by the status LED located on your status bar.   In order to get this information you simply have to press the [F5]-key or click on the button for object information.

Program Interface - Symbol Selection

 
By using the symbol selection you can determine whether and how graphical symbols of appropiate objects should be displayed in the map window of the application.
 

Program Interface - Status-LED

 
The LED in the lower left window area indicates the current status of CityGuide DMS. A green light indicates that the system is waiting for your inputs.  
 

 
Whenever you see a red or yellow light you can look on the status bar for additional information.
 

Program Interface - Status Bar

 
CityGuide DMS will give you short notices and hints by means of the status bar in the lower window area.
 

 
It may indicate the availability of more information for a currently selected object or if your print job has been successfully executed.
 

Program Interface - Command Buttons

 
The command buttons resemble important keyboard-functions. This also allows amongst others an application of CityGuide DMS in Touchscreen-Systems (Terminal Interfaces).
 

	Zoom In Increases the zoom factor applied to the current map.
	Zoom Out Decreases the zoom factor applied to the current map.
	Go West This will make you move to the left on your current map.
	Go East This will make you move to the right on your current map.
	Go North This will make you move up on the current map.
	Go South This will make you move down on the your current map.
	Save settings Saves your current settings by setting a "cookie" on your computer.
	Program help Invokes the documentation for CityGuide DMS.
	Object information In case additional information is available for the selected object, you can access it through a new browser window when clicking this button or by pressing the [F5]-key.
